Designing with Nature in Mind: Transforming a Filling Station into an Outdoor Oasis

The Mnandikona project inside Total Energies filling station was a true test of our architectural knowledge. With a massive 4035 SQM of space to work with, this was by far the largest project we've had the opportunity to tackle. Due to the size of the building, the project had to be broken up into phases, and today we're excited to introduce you to the external seating area.

Our goal was to create the perfect outdoor setting that seamlessly blends nature with modern day lighting. We achieved this by using a combination of natural woods, raw metal, and plants, perfectly placed around the space. The lighting adds a modern twist, with the use of LED lighting and custom pendants that offer a natural, rustic, industrial look. The use of orange furniture throughout the space also communicates with the brand's CI, and creates a sense of recognition.

A standout feature of the space is the wash hand area, where a lot of texture is present. The space boasts huge, stunning concrete hand-made basins that are wall-hung against a beautifully finished plastered wall. The result is a space that feels both natural and modern, inviting and functional.

Take a look at the before and after photos below to see the transformation for yourself. We're proud of the work we've done here and hope you enjoy it as much as we do.

Until Next time…
